Doses
- Children should get two or three doses of the vaccine depending on the type.
- The first dose is between 6 and 12 weeks of age, Children should get both doses by age 15 weeks
Rotavirus
Rotavirus is an oral (swallowed) vaccine. The vaccine is very good at preventing diarrhoea and vomiting caused by rotavirus. It protects most children who get the disease from severe rotavirus diarrhoea and hospitalisation
This is the commonest cause of diarrhoea and vomiting worldwide. Children are more likely to get rotavirus disease between November and May depending on the part of the country. Children can get rotavirus infection by being around children already infected.
